in the provision of accommodation and training for young people.
School-Home Support
An organisation that provides support staff to schools to help parents
and children with any problems that may affect a child’s education.
A one-off donation of £328,833 over three years will fund one-third
of the ‘Learning and Development’ programme which aims to develop and
use the School-Home Support model as a national template.
Kids Company
Kids Company provides emotional, practical and educational support to
profoundly vulnerable young people. Its services are delivered through
25 schools across London, a children’s drop-in centre and an Urban Academy
for 16+ year olds, both in south London. Having been Man Group’s Annual
Charity for 2005/6, support was maintained this year with a £25,000
donation, as part of a three-year commitment, while a number of our
people continued to provide direct personal help and support.
We also made a donation of £60,000 per year for two years for two ‘Reading Recovery’ teachers.
£70,950 was given for a joint University College London and Great Ormond Street research project: ‘Neural and Physiological Markers of Anti-Social Behaviour in Adolescents’.
ARK
We continued as a corporate patron of the international charity ARK,
which aims to transform children’s lives.
We also made a donation of £150,000 over three years towards the ARK Future Leaders programme: a new initiative which aims to identify and develop the skills and vision of leaders to run the most challenging urban schools, and make a lasting difference to the lives of pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Clouds
Clouds provides services which offer the greatest hope of the fullest
possible life to anyone affected by addiction.
The Prince’s Trust
Through practical support including training, mentoring and financial
assistance, the Prince’s Trust helps 14-30 year olds transform their
lives and realise their potential. Efforts are focused on those who
have struggled at school, been in care, been in trouble with the law,
or suffered long-term unemployment.
Safer London Foundation
The Safer London Foundation is the new charitable arm of the Metropolitan
Police Service. The Foundation aims to reduce crime, promote community
cohesion and develop safer neighbourhoods through innovative community-led
crime reduction projects, education, information and support.
WAVE Trust
Funding of £19,900 to WAVE (Worldwide Alternatives to Violence) went
towards a research project intended to make a significant and enduring
long-term difference to levels of violence in Britain.
