Unicorn Theatre
The Unicorn Theatre is based in London and is an award-winning producer
of professional theatre and education projects for audiences aged 4-12
years old.
Sadler’s Wells – Connect Programme
Sadler’s Wells is a theatre with a strong, dynamic contemporary programme,
dedicated to bringing the very best international and UK dance to London
audiences.
Through its community and outreach arm, Connect, Sadler’s Wells uses dance to develop confidence, self-awareness and creativity in individuals of all levels and abilities.
Royal College of Art – ReachOut RCA
The role of ReachOut RCA is to coordinate a programme of workshops in
liaison with London schools. RCA students are offered a vocational educational
experience with involved, practical support. See also Young People –
Education.
pianoMan
The pianoMan series has so far brought more than 15,000 children from
some of the UK’s most depressed areas into direct contact with the life-enriching
experience of live classical music, and given 400 budding young pianists
the inspirational chance to take part in a masterclass with international
concert pianist, Richard Meyrick. It has brought 12 children to London
as special awardees of a piano lesson, and enabled ongoing tuition for
three scholars.
We have extended the pianoMan project for a further two years of funding amounting to over £200,000.
Young People – SportLondon Youth Rowing
We completed the third of our five years’ (£700,000 in total) backing
for London Youth Rowing which gives all young Londoners the opportunity
to row.
Saracens Foundation
The Saracens Foundation is the charitable arm of Saracens, and works
to enhance the lives of children and young people through sport, physical
activity and health promotion generally. The Saracens brand, professional
players and high quality staff come together to inspire and challenge
children to live an active and healthy lifestyle, and understand why
it matters.
Duke of York Champions Trophy
The flagship event of the Duke of York Sports Foundation, the Duke of
York Champions Trophy, first played in 2001, is an international 54-hole
stroke play golf tournament for boys and girls who are either the current
holders of their Under 18 National Championship or have won some other
major national golfing event in the preceding year. This highly rated
invitational event aims to promote the development of junior golf, encourage
competitiveness and friendship between individual champions, and give
them the chance to play one of the finest UK links courses against a
field of top quality players. There are also lectures on fitness, nutrition
and equipment.
Greenhouse Schools Project
A donation of £100,000 a year for three years went to the Greenhouse
Schools Project which teaches 11-16 year olds life and social skills
using sports and arts. Greenhouse especially targets those experiencing
difficulties with learning and behaviour or who are living with a disability.
Greenhouse also recruits young people from the community and helps them earn nationally recognised qualifications.
The Leaside Trust
The Leaside Trust is a charitable educational trust which runs an outdoor
activities centre on the River Lea in Hackney. Leaside aims to contribute
to the physical education of inner city youth, particularly those who
are economically or socially deprived, by providing facilities for outdoor
educational activities which in turn enable young people’s personal,
social and physical development.

We continued our scholarships and Drawing Prize at the Royal College of Art and also made a commitment to a new Man Group Photographic Prize.
City of London School
We continued our scholarship for boys from less advantaged communities
to attend the City of London School, extending our commitment for a
further three years.
Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
A donation was made to become a corporate friend of the 50th anniversary
of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
UK Mathematics Trust
The United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) was founded to advance mathematics
education for children and young people.
Oxford and Cambridge scholarships
A donation of £189,000 over six years was made to Cambridge University
to award three year scholarships to seven financially disadvantaged
students studying mathematical disciplines.
A further donation of £180,000 over six years was made to Oxford University to finance scholarships for 15 students studying courses of up to four years.
The Royal Anniversary Trust
A donation of £500,000 over three years was made to The Royal Anniversary
Trust. The Queen’s Anniversary Prizes are awarded for outstanding achievements
of excellence by UK universities and colleges in an existing activity,
area of work or project. A prize is a national honour, presented by
The Queen in an honours ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
