Introduction

In last year’s Report we stated: “One of our most important stakeholders is our people – our people are our brand and our Corporate Responsibility Programme reinforces this.”

We firmly believe this, just as we hold that it is the quality of our employees – their ability, behaviour, motivation and commitment – that has been fundamental to the sustainability of our business for more than 200 years.

Our strength as a company lies primarily in the way our people combine with our innovative solutions and processes. We have, of course, over time, adapted our business model to reflect the changing demands of our markets and stakeholders. Corporate responsibility plays an important role in this ongoing process of refinement, innovation and continuous improvement and empowers our people to maintain and enhance our positive branding as an employer and as a company.
