2008 marked the 225th anniversary of the founding of Man Group. Few companies last that long. Not all countries are that old. From the company’s foundation as a barrel maker by the River Thames in London, we have evolved to become a specialist in global financial services – Man Group is now amongst the world’s largest providers of hedge funds and alternative investment solutions.

Twenty-six years ago, when Man first entered the alternative investments arena, hedge funds were relatively unknown and their assets tiny. Today hedge funds are an established $1 trillion global industry with influence, purpose and ambition and Man is amongst the leaders in the industry.

The changes have been profound, and are accelerating. We have invested in and expanded across a broad range of hedge fund styles to build a balanced business – balanced in the sense of meeting the expectations of our investors, our people and our shareholders. With offices in thirteen countries and through our ownership of world-class investment managers in the UK, Switzerland and America, we are a truly global company.
