Man literary prizes
Man sponsors three major literary prizes - The Man Booker Prize, The Man Booker International Prize and The Man Asian Literary Prize.
Man first took on the sponsorship of the Man Booker Prize for Fiction in 2002. Any full-length novel, written by a citizen of the Commonwealth or the Republic of Ireland and published in the United Kingdom for the first time in the year of the prize. The novel must be an original work in English (not a translation) and must not be self-published.
Launched in 2005, The Man Booker International Prize recognises one writer for his or her achievement in fiction. The prize is awarded every two years to a living author who has published fiction either originally in English or whose work is generally available in translation in the English language. The winner is chosen solely at the discretion of the judging panel and there are no submissions from publishers.
The Man Asian Literary Prize was founded in 2007. It is an annual literary award given to the best novel by an Asian writer, either written in English or translated into English, and published in the previous calendar year. The judges choose a longlist of 10 to 15 titles announced in October, followed by a shortlist of 5 to 6 titles announced in January, and a winner is awarded in March.
