Graduate programmes

Graduate programmes

We offer three distinct graduate programmes:

  • Finance
  • Product and client operations
  • Technology

Each programme is designed to broaden your overall knowledge of the alternative investment market, while equipping you for a career in a core area of our business.

The programmes are between 18 and 36 months in duration, dependent upon which business area you join.

What you can expect to achieve:

  • a comprehensive overview of the alternative investment industry
  • a network of contacts across the business and use this to benefit your development, your team and the company
  • a detailed understanding of how our business works, how we interact with our clients, and how we operate internally
  • a blend of technical and personal skills learning, tailored around your capabilities and development needs, designed to kick start your career
  • key contribution to business projects from day one

Your day-to-day experiences will largely depend on your placement, as each one is different. It’s fair to say that no two graduates ever go through a programme in the same way.

Recruitment process

Our recruitment process is designed to give us the opportunity to determine if you are the right person for our organisation, but also give you the chance to decide whether Man is the employer for you.

The first stage of the process requires you to submit your CV online and answer some specific questions regarding Man and the role.

If you successfully pass the initial screening, you will be invited to undertake some psychometric tests.

This is then followed by competency based interviews with HR, technical interviews with your potential future colleagues and a final round assessment day. The assessment day will include a further technical interview, psychometric tests and a group exercise and presentation.

Our 2012 vacancies will close on the 30th November. However, we will begin to review applications as they come through so applying early is advised.

Training and development

Our goal is to provide a combination of tailored and on-the-job training.

You will be mentored and supported throughout the programme with the opportunity to interact at all levels within the business.

Training includes a comprehensive induction including lectures and exercises in areas such as credit markets, futures/options, hedge fund strategies, fixed income, capital markets theory, short term markets etc. This will get you started before you begin training in your area of specialism. We also offer soft skills training including courses on communication and influencing skills, presentation skills and time management.

In addition, we operate an educational assistance programme to sponsor employees in studying for approved external qualifications, such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Investment Management Certificate (IMC).
