AHL Electronic Trading Developer [3441]

This is an outstanding opportunity to join one of the most prestigious technology teams in algorithmic trading.  We're looking for algo trading systems developers to work as part of small team of electronic trading professionals including quantitative researchers, traders and operations staff, in order to design, implement and maintain the electronic execution components processing the market signals resulting from the AHL algorithms.  This includes execution strategy design, high frequency signal generation to advise the strategies, and connectivity to liquidity sources.
 

Requirements:
Technology and Business Skills

  • Exceptional technology skills; recognised by your peers as an expert in your domain
  • Extensive Java experience, OO design and patterns - C++ and relational database knowledge an advantage
  • Experience in trading and exposure to capital markets
  • A proponent of agile development methods; continuous integration, unit testing, refactoring and related approaches
  • Experience of distributed, concurrent processing server-side development
  • Proficient working on all major platforms - Linux, Windows and UNIX; working knowledge of various scripting languages
  • Experience of a range of open source frameworks: Spring (or other DI), log4j, junit, eclipse, maven
  • Experience of event driven, asynchronous architectures and messaging/market data processing
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and probability and their application to trading systems an advantage
  • Experience in the front office technology group of a trading organisation (hedge fund, investment bank) is an advantage

Personal Attributes and Management Skills

  • Significant post graduate experience in software development, preferably in finance
  • Strong academic record and a degree in a subject with good mathematical content and computing exposure or Computer Science, Maths, Engineering or Physics from a leading university
  • Intellectually robust with a keenly analytic approach
  • Able to establish and maintain a close working relationship with research academics, traders and senior business people alike
  • Confident communicator; able to argue a point concisely and deal positively with conflicting views
  • Focused on delivering value to the business; relentless efforts to improve how that is done
