AHL: Investment Operations Analyst [3192]

The research and investment operations group at Man is responsible for the development, adjustment and management of our in-house trading systems, the design of our investment portfolio, the day-to-day monitoring of risk and the collation and analysis of financial market data.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting key independent operational controls including risk reporting, execution analysis and valuation of the AHL test trading portfolio
  • Detailed understanding of the AHL trading systems to facilitate the timely and accurate implementation of trading and system parameters
  • Supporting Quantitative Researchers in implementing new strategies into live trading.  Responsibilities  include:
    • Creation and implementation of new operational procedures for the post-execution life cycle of a trade
    • Design and implementation of P and L and risk reports
    • Assisting MI legal teams in negotiating legal agreements with the trading counterparties
    • Prepare and perform periodic rebalancing of the AHL portfolios
    • Implementation of new markets
    • Validation and sign-off P and L with external valuation agents
    • Provide input and support to product structuring for designing most operationally sound product
    • Complete validation and integrity processes on AHL Research and Trading data 

Requirements

TECHNICAL

  • Degree in a finance/IT focused discipline. Equivalent of an IMC qualification is required, CFA qualification is beneficial
  • Detailed working knowledge of a broad range of financial markets and instruments through previous practical experience within the financial services sector is essential.  We are looking for diversity of experience akin to a working within a hedge fund operational environment.
  • Specific asset class knowledge required are Futures, FX, Forwards, Bonds, IRS, CDS, Commodities, FX Options, Equities and CFDs.  Must have solid understanding of operational and valuation aspects involved in trading these instruments

SYSTEMSf

  • Excellent working knowledge of SQL and VBA essential
  • Working knowledge of UNIX and LINUX is required. Exposure to scripting languages like PYTHON would be an strong advantage  
  • Experience with third party middle office systems

  • Proven track record of extremely high attention to detail and accuracy whilst under time pressure
  • Deadline focused and well organised, in order to effectively manage projects through to delivery
  • Able to take initiative and lead a piece of work
  • Analytical ability to solve problems
  • Able to pro actively challenge current procedures and processes to improve efficiency is essential
